Erwin Springbrunn’s Fine Jewellery to Ignite Excitement at Auction

erwin springbrunn

Luxury jewellery by master goldsmith Erwin Springbrunn (1939 – 2015) is going under the hammer in our upcoming auction.

The renowned designer, born in Germany, lived in Ireland for 32 years and created an array of unique pieces of jewellery.

Springbrunn exhibited across the world and had a keen interest in Celtic art and history. No two pieces from Springbrunn were ever the same.

Works commissioned for various churches included expertly detailed pieces. He often started his work by placing gemstones with a piece of jewellery designed around its stone. An exhibition showcasing the entire portfolio from Springbrunn’s workshop was on show in County Roscommon, Ireland, in 2020.

The Auction

A total of 16 rings from Springbrunn are going under the hammer in our Fine Jewellery auction. The live auction event takes place in Birmingham on Thursday 30th September and will also be live-streamed online via the auction house’s live bidding platform.

A brilliant-cut diamond floral ring, with three-strand band, Lot 101, is a highlight example which beautifully contains clusters around the central stone. It has an estimate of £5,000 – £7,000 in the sale.

Another top lot in the sale is an 18ct gold blue topaz and purple sapphire cocktail ring – with an estimate of £1,000 – £1,500 and featuring as Lot 100.

Our Thoughts

Nicola Whittaker, Business Development Manager at Fellows Auctioneers, said: “Erwin Springbrunn was not only a talented goldsmith but gem cutter as well. This collection of gem set rings show his talent for both and I can’t wait to see how well his jewellery sells at auction. The style and choice of gemstones in the rings are magnificent to look at, and they all come in a variety of sizes and colours which should entice all jewellery lovers.

“It is perfectly fitting that Springbrunn’s items are included in our Fine Jewellery sale, which showcases the best jewellery we have to offer.”
