With so many incredible watches, it is hard to pick a highlight from the upcoming Luxury Watch Sale this January at Fellows Auctioneers. For many though, it would be this. A very rare, limited edition, Omega James Bond diver watch set.

With so many incredible watches, it is hard to pick a highlight from the upcoming Luxury Watch
Sale this January at Fellows Auctioneers. For many though, it would be this. A very rare, limited
edition, Omega James Bond diver watch set.

Limited to just 257 examples, number 11 represents a fantastic opportunity for James Bond fans and Omega enthusiasts alike, to acquire a highly collectible piece of horology, rarely available on the open market.

Lot 115 features two Seamaster Professional wristwatches, one in stainless steel, the other in 18ct yellow gold. Both watches feature a ceramic bezel insert, essential for its improved scratch resistance, should you have a nasty prang in the Aston, or fall from a helicopter.

Mechanically the watches are at the cutting edge of watchmaking, achieving chronometer status with the aid of George Daniels’ most notable invention – the Co-Axial escapement. No excuses for missing the start of your high-stakes poker game.

Whilst some features may also be present on mainstream Omega Seamaster watches, there are a number of notable details only seen on limited-edition examples such as these.

The dial and hands

A PVD coated, spiral brushed ceramic dial, finished with a laser engraved gun barrel design provides an eye-catching backdrop for the time display. The Super-LumiNova marker to 10 o’clock has a hidden number 50 within it, representing the fifty years that have passed since the release of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” in 1969.

The hands and the surrounds of the hour markers are made using 18ct yellow gold, and the marker to twelve has detailing inspired by the Bond family coat-of-arms. A theme also carried through to the exhibition case back, where it is metallised in black and gold.

To the side of each watch case, is a small screwed plate displaying the unique limited edition number. One in white gold and the other in yellow gold.

The straps

Although currently fitted to signed black rubber straps, both watches can instead be paired with a NATO. Even the pin buckles will match, with an 18ct fastener to accompany the 18ct watch head. A stainless steel “007” bracelet is also included to provide a third aesthetic option.

The suitcase

The watches themselves are kept safe and secure in their very own special edition Globe-Trotter suitcase, marked ‘Omega 007 Limited Edition’. Inside of which are two travel pouches with James Bond coat-of-arms detailing and script reading ‘ORBIS.NON.SUFFICIT’ (latin for ‘THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH’, the Bond family motto). A jeweller’s loupe in the style of a calibrated Omega bezel is also included.

With an estimate of £18,000-26,000 this lot could prove to be the GoldenBuy of the sale, with the winning bidder starting 2022 in Double-O Heaven. Pre-sale viewing days will be held on January 11th in London and the 14th and 17th in Birmingham, so why not come and in-Spectre them in person. With over 250 watches available, you will surely spy something you like.
